Humanistica: Humanism and Literature in Portugal

The group is concerned with the edition, annotation, and study of the Corpus of the Portuguese Humanists, attending to their Latin and Romance production, and focusing on the transmission of ancient Greek and Latin authors (16th-17th centuries). It coordinates the international network Humanistica Iberica, in collaboration with Europa Renascens (Institute of Humanistic Studies, University of Cádiz), and Europa Humanistica (CNRS/ Paris, Centre d'études supérieures de la Renaissance (Université de Tours). It organizes two types of regular international meetings (the first focusing mainly the latin humanistic corpus, the second the vernacular one): 1.- International Seminars on Iberian Humanism (Lisbon CEC; Paris /Sorbonne Nouvelle, Instituto de Estudios Humanísticos (Universidad de Cádiz); Roma La Sapienza; King’s College (University of London). 2.- Republic of Letters (Paris/Sorbonne Nouvelle/CREPAL; CHAM; Porto, CITCEM; Lisboa, CEC).
