My research concerns the political language of Athenian tragedy. By using a combination of philology, narratology and cognitive studies, the purpose is to shed light on the original spectators’ experience of tragic political language. I have worked in the field of classical philology, with a particular focus on Greek tragedy, since my undergraduate degree. In my BA thesis, I analysed the dramaturgical features of Aeschylus’ Suppliant Women. My Master’s thesis took on a more strictly philological approach, as it consisted of a study of the sacrifice of Iphigenia in Aeschylus’ Agamemnon in relation to previous literary appearances of the same myth. My doctoral dissertation (Sapienza Università di Roma, 2022) was the first critical edition and commentary to all surviving fragments from 5th-century BC tragedies on the myth of Thyestes. I have pursued my interest in joining the worlds of scholarship and drama by being one of the leading members of Theatron, Sapienza’s ancient theatre project. Within Theatron, I have worked as an actor, translator (Greek to Italian), translation supervisor and assistant to the director.
