Conference

Manuel C. Díaz y Díaz (Murgados, A Coruña, 1924 – Santiago de Compostela, 2008) was one of the most eminent scholars of Medieval Hispanic Latinity. His works, in which he combined the most diverse fields, from Literary Analysis to the History of Institutions, from Codicology and Paleography to the History of the Manuscript and Textual Transmission, have been basic tools for generations of scholars and a constant source of inspiration. Its influence is enormous in a wide community that he helped to create, dedicated to the study of the most diverse aspects of Medieval Iberic Latin language and literature.

To commemorate its centenary, the Center for Classical Studies at the University of Lisbon, the Department of Classic and Indo-European Philology at the Salamanca University, the Classic and Medieval Research Group at the University of Santiago of Compostela, with the collaboration of the Milá y Fontanals de Investigación en Humanidades – CSIC, organize the Journey of Celebration Studies by M. C. Díaz y Díaz (1924-2024).

Additionally, it will be presented in the Atrium of the Library of the Faculty of Letters, an exhibition concerning the M. C. Díaz y Díaz Fund, from October 14th to October 19th, 2024.
