SINICA –  RES SINICAE

IR: Arnaldo do Espírito Santo

Resumo: The project will make available, in a digital platform, documentation on China, in Latin and Portuguese, from the 16th to the 18th century. Thus it will address the persistent lack of such resource in Portugal. Following an exhaustive inventorying, transcription and translation from Latin to Portuguese, the documents will be edited in both original and Portuguese versions. Later on, a wide selection of sources will be published in English. The platform will also include studies authored by the team's researchers and consultants, as well as other content, both formative and oriented towards cultural divulgation. The digital platform will be complemented by an exhibition, thus enhancing the social impact of the project. The core objectives will be: to promote an increased knowledge of intercultural relations between Portugal-China; and to promote the study of the Portuguese contribution for the production and circulation of knowledge from Ming / Qing China.
