HPRT 3. EPIGRAPHICA: Epigraphy and Linguistics

The research project (HPRT 3) has three branches: Latin Linguistics, Epigraphy, and Ancient History. With these main areas, the research project aims to study the Latin language in multilingual contexts in the Iberian Peninsula and to study texts in their cultural (archaeological, religious) contexts. The research group will develop work on the relations between Latin and other languages in the Iberian Peninsula and analyse epigraphic texts and their archaeological context from Paleo-Hispanic times to Late Antiquity. Due to the interdisciplinary character of the research team, we also cooperate with the research team Humanistica concerning the transmission and edition of Ancient and Humanistic epigraphy.

TOPICS: Latin linguistics, epigraphy, ancient history, historical sociolinguistics, pre-Roman languages and cultures
