André Simões is a professor at the Department of Classical Studies and a full-time researcher at the Centre for Classical Studies since 1996. After a masters degree on Medieval Latin Literature, he successfully completed a PhD on Neo-Latin Political Literature, concerning the Portuguese Restoration (1640-1668). Since then, his main research has been on Neo-Latin literature from 16th and 17th century Portugal.
