A Hellenist, I have written mainly on Hesiod, Homer, Greek lyric poetry, and ancient sub-literary/ popular specimens, as well the interplay of early Christianity and the erudite ('pagan') tradition. I have taught for over 30 years in Greece and elsewhere. My current area of research and writing is concerned with a short 'essay' by St Basil the Great (mid-late 4th cent.) on the role of the classical curriculum in Christian society. Director Emeritus, CHS-Harvard in Greece; Prof. (retired) of Ancient Greek Literature, Democritus University of Thrace; Adjunct Prof. of Anc. Gk Lit., St Photius Orthodox Theological Seminary, Etna, California; DPhil (Lit. Hum.), Univ. of Oxford, B.A. (Harvard Univ.); have lectured in numerous US, EU, British, Greek, Chinese, & Brazilian universities; editor, co-editor; author of numerous books and articles in area of ancient Greece & Byzantium.
