I am a PhD candidate at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), Leiden University, and hold a Master’s degree in Documentation and Information Sciences from the University of Lisbon, as well as a degree in History from the Universidade Aberta. Since 1997, I have been working at the School of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), where I am currently Head of the Library Services, Historical Archives, and Museum Heritage. I am also a Lecturer in Evidence-Based Medicine and a researcher at the Unit for Ethics and Integrity in Research at ISAMB-FMUL. In addition, I am a researcher at the Centre for Classical Studies and a member of the Open Science and CoARA Task Forces of the University of Lisbon. My research focuses on innovation in scholarly communication and peer review, with particular attention to the dissemination and quality control of biomedical research. My broader research interests include knowledge translation, ethics and integrity in research, research management, science policy, scientometrics, and the responsible use of metrics.
